The long-life of the Xenon lamp means that you may never have to change the lamp. And because the Cary 50 gets its power from the PC, it is only on when the PC is switched on. This also means that if something goes wrong with the electronics, fixing the problem is as simple as changing the board in the PC.

The Cary 50 is controlled by the Cary WinUV software, which features an easy-to-use, Windows based, modular design. 

The Cary 50 is unaffected by room light. You can operate with the sample compartment open or closed, you won't notice the difference. So, if your sample won't quite fit in the sample compartment, it's OK, you can leave the lid off. If you want to keep dust, dirt and room light out of the sample compartment, then you can use the lid.
