The step-by-step OnTrak OraTube™ process
| |
1. Have donor keep foam collector in the mouth until soaked thoroughly (up to three minutes). They should not chew or suck on foam.
| |
2. The administrator should place the collector foam-first into the expressor in the tube.
| |
3. Gently push the collector down into the expresser. You will feel some resistance about 2/3 the way down; push past this to reach the bottom of the expresser. The saliva will flow into the tube. Note: It is important that a minimum of 1 mL of sample is collected.
| |
4. Lift the collector out of the tube. The expresser will be removed with it. Throw both pieces away.
| |
5. Firmly and tightly screw the cap onto the tube for shipping. Place chain-of-custody tape over cap. Complete the Chain-of-Custody lab form and package properly in biohazard bag provided. Pack into a corrugated cardboard box for shipping to lab.
