Dynamax preparative HPLC columns with Dynamic Axial Compression
Dynamax columns employ a powerful hardware design that allows the user to maintain the integrity of the column bed and eliminate column voids. HPLC column beds in preparative columns can consolidate or settle over time and leave a void at the head of the column that directly impacts column performance.
The patented Dynamic Axial Compression hardware eliminates voids and helps to ensure excellent column performance and increased column longevity. Dynamax columns are sold as pre-packed compression modules onto which Dynamax hardware is installed. Dynamax hardware can be used with any Dynamax compression module of identical diameter. Integrated guard modules are also available. All columns are individually tested and meet our stringent criteria for quality and performance.

Dynamax Preparative HPLC Column

Varian offers Dynamax columns as compression modules (cartridges) onto which separate axial compression end fittings are installed for two reasons.

1: Performance
Dynamax hardware maintains column performance over the lifetime of the column. Preparative columns almost invariably develop voids at the head of the column over time. Voiding seriously decreases column performance. Axial compression hardware is generally accepted to be the most reliable way to eliminate void formation and maintain column integrity.

2: Value
A significant amount of the cost of any preparative column lies in the special high pressure end-fittings.
With conventional columns, these end-fittings must be purchased with every column and thrown away once the column is spent. Dynamax end-fittings are reusable. Additionally, they can be interchanged with any Dynamax module of identical diameter. Dynamax hardware helps keep preparative column costs down.

Conventional columns come as complete ready-to-use columns; Dynamax columns are sold as modules or cartridges onto which separate axial compression hardware is installed.

There are three options when configuring a Dynamax column. To simplify the choices, End Fittings Kits are available for each of the configurations.

The individual components are also available making it possible to add to your existing kit. For example, to add a guard column to Kit 1, you simply order the guard coupling assembly for your diameter column. Following are some graphic examples.

	Kit 1 contains the end fittings for operating your Dynamax preparative column without a guard module. All you need to add is the Dynamax preparative module of the appropriate dimensions.
	Kit 2 contains all the connectors needed to operate a Dynamax preparative module fitted with a protective guard module.
	Kit 3 The third option is to use the guard module as the preparative column without the additional column module. For this option, simply purchase the Dynamax Guard Holder in the appropriate diameter.
